Diarrhea is a result of an excessively quick gastric transit, which prevents adequate water absorption and stool concentration. It is characterised by loose, fluid, more frequent stools.
The cause of diarrhea may be the irritation of the bowel, resulting from infection or psychogenic factors, as is the case with IBS. Diarrhea can affect travellers through fecal pollution of food or water.
Diarrhea is treated with products that restore proper gut flora, bind intestinal gases and protect the gastrointestinal tract from putrefactive and pathogenic bacteria.
