Grows up to 4 m (in greenhouses 1 m), bushy branched. Leaves are thick, grey and green, fleshy, sharp at the end, serrated edges. The flowers are bell-shaped, up to 4 cm in length, pink-orange, red, rarely yellow, harvested from a cluster. It rarely blooms in Europe.

Krantz aloe – effects and use:

Parts used in medicine include: juice from fresh leaves and leaf pulp.
The leaves contain glycoproteins, which boost the body's immunity, and polysaccharides, which have a detoxifying effect. Aloe leaves are rich in aloenins (speed up wound healing) and chromone derivatives, responsible for the anti-inflammatory effect. The leaves is also a source of minerals beneficial for one's health, including skin health. These include: zinc, iron, nickel, copper, vitamins (especially B class) and folic acid.

The leaf juice is used to produce immunostimulant products, and the fresh pulp is used for treating radiation burns and stubborn wounds. Aloe juice is extremely useful when the tissue restoration process is obstructed; it is also given to patients after complex surgeries. Wound healing is not its only property, though. The juice is also used for eye strain, boosting and regenerating the body, and for improving the mood. It also inhibits the secretion of hydrochloric acid and pepsin. Aloe products are used for diseases of the stomach and duodenum. Aloe might also be interesting to patients suffering from digestive issues with no apparent cause, even if they watch their diet. Aloe is a light laxative and helps reduce esophagus mucosa irritation. Aloe products are also indicated for peptic ulcers, though they may not substitute medical consultation.

The juice and pulp are used for skin regeneration products. Aloenin A is an igredient of conditioning creams and is added to anti-hair loss treatments. Externally, aloe can be used for burns, ulcers, skin injuries, animal and insect bites, rashes, bedsores, itching and others.
